Solvarius and Almara
Attributed to Vesper the Errant, a poet of minor renown in Eastern Skaldenreach. Scholars remain divided on whether the poem describes impropriety between Solvarius and Almara or a closeness that was never improper at all. Vesper's own writings offer no further clarification, and he is not known to have addressed the matter again.
I saw the sun dip low past the horizon
Watching the wandering clouds slow
There is one place I kept my eyes on
The point where Heaven and Earth shared something that I longed to know
A threshold that seemed so unreal
The Sun and Earth sharing a moment of closeness
A secret whispered that only they could hear
A moment I could steal and make the secret clear…
But no, who am I to intrude on what is theirs
I let the moment pass as they say goodbye
Feeling the last ray of warmth leave the air
Maybe the Earth sang the Sun her lullaby
Something sweet and soft like a mother's prayer
I could sit here and ponder till I'm wet with dew
But instead I'll just give you a quiet
